Abstract

The social perception of the concept life has been jointed to the expansion of the Judeo- Christian creed. The Christianity laid the foundations of what is the human life. This conception has influenced different ethical dilemmas and, more concretely, bioethical dilemmas. In this paper I will try to show, first, the influence of religious arguments when issues such as euthanasia and research with embryonic stem cells are addressed; second, I will show that a lay bioethics should be clearly distanced from religious arguments and take into account only the Declaration of Human Rights.
