This paper analyses the Argentine scientific production of period 2001-2010, collected from SCImago Journal & Country Rank in five priority areas for R&D set in the National Strategic Plan on Science, Technology and Innovation “Bicentennial” (2006-2010). Relative quantitative and qualitative indicators are used to account for scientific performance of domestic production regarding Latin America and the Caribbean, and the rest of the world. It was detected that the Agricultural and Biological Sciences discipline field is the one area that shows the fastest growth, activity and visibility at regional and global levels.
