Abstract

In a world astonished by the speed and scope of technological changes, vast masses of people are undernourished, and numerous countries cyclically suffer from famines. Literally, thousands of human beings die each year from starvation. Faced with such a dramatic contrast, fundamental questions arise. Are we facing a natural limit or a fundamental social inequality? In other words, is this a problem of food availability or a regressive income distribution that prevents certain social groups from accessing it? More than thirty years ago, this issue was starkly presented in the debate between the Club of Rome and the World Model of the Bariloche Foundation.
