Una propuesta ante los desafíos teórico-metodológicos del estudio sociotécnico de la digitalización

Resumen

La penetración y expansión de las tecnologías digitales en la vida social contemporánea aparece como un tópico de suma relevancia para los estudios CTS, lo que empuja a volver sobre la pregunta sobre cuán inéditas y profundas son las transformaciones sociotécnicas en ciernes. Centrándose en la investigación de la digitalización del trabajo, este artículo reflexiona en torno a tres desafíos: las definiciones epistemológicas, el desarrollo del categorial analítico y el diseño de una estrategia metodológica sobre la unidad de análisis. En respuesta a ellos, se expone una propuesta teórica y metodológica construida a partir de una investigación sobre los sindicatos ante la digitalización de los puertos en América Latina. La propuesta articula las categorías de imaginario e infraestructura para indagar, desde un enfoque sociotécnico crítico, las relaciones sociales y materiales en torno al cambio tecnológico en el trabajo, relevando las tensiones políticas del mundo laboral y sindical. Además de las discusiones conceptuales y metodológicas sobre ambas categorías, se incorpora un esquema de análisis que traduce dichas discusiones en coordenadas de indagación e interpretación, como una contribución al análisis de imaginarios sociotécnicos.

Candidato a doctor en estudios americanos, especialidad estudios sociales y políticos, Instituto de Estudios Avanzados (IDEA), Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH). El presente artículo forma parte de la tesis doctoral del autor, titulada El imaginario de las y los dirigentes sindicales ante la digitalización portuaria en América Latina, conducente al grado de doctor en estudios americanos, especialidad estudios sociales y políticos (IDEA-USACH).
