The Teaching-Research-Extension Triad in Brazilian Public Universities under the STS perspective. The view of Renato Dagnino on the Relationship between University and Society

This article makes a brief synthesis of Brazilian researcher Renato Dagnino’s reflections about the relationship between university and society. From an STS perspective, it focuses on Dagnino’s criticism of teaching, research and extension activities in Brazilian public universities. It also aims to revisit the author’s main ideas, his analysis of the current problems in the Brazilian scientific-technological agenda and the possible directions for changing the scenario in this field. This article hopes to obtain a broad view of Dagnino’s thinking about the challenges and possibilities for action that Brazilian public universities have in the present context, contributing to the opening of paths to build a transforming, dialogical and solidary university in peripherals countries like Brazil.
