The Awakening of Ecological Awareness through Children’s and Youth Literature. Didactics of Literature and Environmental Education

Ecological laboratories and recycling workshops are an increasingly frequent presence in the curricular and out-of-school routines of our primary and secondary students. However, literature is still not used at its best as a tool to awaken the reflection on the environment and the daily impact of our actions over it. This paper aims at providing a basic bibliography to help teachers move in the editorial scene on environmental issues dedicated to children’s and youth literature, with a special focus on water. It will be guided by the principles expressed by the sociologist Jeremy Rifkin in his book The Empathic Civilization (2010).Downloads
