Internacionalización e innovación en servicios intensivos en conocimiento en América Latina

Resumen


En las últimas décadas ha crecido considerablemente el grado de internacionalización en varias ramas de servicios, ya sea por la vía del comercio u otros canales alternativos. Asimismo, se ha revalorizado el papel que juegan algunos sectores conocidos como servicios intensivos en conocimiento (SIC) en cuanto a la innovación y productividad de los países. No obstante, la literatura empírica sobre estas temáticas se ha cruzado en pocas oportunidades, y además escasea la evidencia proveniente de países en desarrollo. El presente trabajo pretende contribuir al análisis del vínculo entre internacionalización e innovación en los SIC a partir de evidencia exploratoria de América Latina. En general, los resultados se corresponden con las conclusiones obtenidas previamente para economías más desarrolladas, destacándose que, cuando se complejizan las estrategias de internacionalización de las firmas de SIC (combinando exportaciones, inversión externa y acuerdos internacionales), su desempeño innovativo tiende a acentuarse.
