Abstract

The field of research and teaching known as "science, technology and society" (STS) has different origins: the analysis of public science and technology policies, the social impacts of technology, or the social conformation of scientific knowledge and technology (Luján, 2022). Some guidelines had a more normative character and others a more descriptive one. In turn, the regulatory approaches also differed by their objectives. Some focused on improving policies related to investment in science and technology, and others on designing mechanisms for public participation in relation to technological innovation. It is the latter perspective that I am going to deal with here.
