Herbert Marcuse has shown how technological rationality has supported three social models in the twentieth century: the advanced industrial society (marked by monopoly capitalism), Soviet marxism and German fascism. This paper shows the critical components that have shaped technological rationality which, closely linked with politics and science, have conquered science and technology as well as all kinds of knowledge. Herbert Marcuse’s thoughts will be the starting point for this analytical exploration.
