Abstract

This issue of the CTS journal dedicates its monograph to the philosophy of science policy. According to the set of articles it comprises, the philosophy of science policy, rather than being a defined field, can be understood as a space for reflection on the social, political, and ethical challenges raised by the promotion and governance of science in today’s world. This reflection draws on various disciplinary perspectives, including the history of science, the philosophy of science and technology, and the economics of technical change, as well as the more recent field of science, technology, and society studies. The monograph also serves as a tribute to Emilio Muñoz on the eve of his retirement. Emilio Muñoz, both a scholar and a prominent figure in modern Spanish science policy, is among those who have most thoroughly addressed this reflection within the framework of Spain’s CSIC.
