A edição gênica e a estrutura econômica da agrobiotecnologia global. Um olhar a partir dos países adotantes

Resumo

Existem inovações que, devido à sua natureza disruptiva, têm o potencial de questionar a imobilidade das posições adquiridas na estrutura econômica de uma determinada indústria. Elas são as inovações fundamentais. O enorme potencial produtivo que se abre a partir da irrupção e difusão no estágio inicial das técnicas de edição gênica, somado a certos sinais de esgotamento na trajetória associada à transgênese vegetal, permite considerar a existência de um impasse na estrutura da indústria agrobiotecnológica global. Neste contexto, são consideradas as implicações que essas mudanças podem apresentar considerando a trajetória histórica dos países da América Latina, que até agora assumiram dentro desta indústria uma posição de adoção de inovações fundamentais.
