Abstract

Social studies of science and technology have established themselves as an alternative perspective to traditional epistemology, as they seek to account for the complexity of factors that interact in real and historically situated scientific practice. Far from being an aseptic and conflict-free task, science is understood as an inherently controversial activity, where epistemic and non-epistemic values are at stake. For this reason, the dispute analysis line of work has been particularly fruitful within the framework of this approach.
